Le saxophoniste ténor Choker Campbell a dirigé le premier orchestre de Tamla/Motown en tournée. Lorsqu'il est remplacé par EARL VAN DYKE, il va diriger le groupe permanent au 'Graystone Ballroom' de Detroit.
Il réalise un album chez Motown en 1965 : 'Hit Of The Sixties'. Il part peu après la sortie de cet album.
