Avec les membres de son groupe de rockabilly les CRANK-TONES, Frank Blandino forme les Fathoms. Lorsque Greg Burgess et Dave Scholl rejoignent le groupe, le résultat est un magnifique groupe de surf/surfabilly. Le saxophone de Dave Sholl est proche du son de Steve Douglas ou Plas Johnson.
Frank Blandino reprend du service avec une nouvelle formation en 2005, The New Fathoms, composés de Jerry Miller à la guitare solo et rythmique, Frankie Blandino à la guitar solo et Doug Hinman à la batterie et Paul Tomasello à la basse.
