Andreas Zorbas :
"The Invisible Surfers (Alex Berekos, guitar; Johnny Ted, Gretsch electric bass; Giorgos Fokas, drums) is a surf punk instrumental band from Athens, Greece, which was formed as group in 1996 after the dissolution of a former group called The Blue Jeans. In 1997, they release their first single, It Wont Last Forever, whose duration is only seven minutes long. This single contains three upbeat instrumental pieces: 1) It Wont Last Forever, 2) Godzilla Attacks, 3) Surfin Lake (a rocknroll version of a Tchaikovsky original). Their overall studio recording time was only four hours.
They also played live at various music festivals, opening up for big named groups such as Cramps, Marky Ramone, Fuzztones, Dead Moon, Mark and the Mysterians, and Flaming Stars. Furthermore, they participated in the lineup of the famous Rockwave and the Gimme Shelter Festivals in 2001, in Greece. Though they opened up for the group Apollo 440 at the Rockwave Festival, the singer of the latter group commented with great enthusiasm that though he was also part of a surf band which played surf pieces, this was, indeed, a wonderful experience for me. Congratulations for those who chose the Invisible Surfers in this lineup.
In 2002, they release their first LP Dogs Killa Cat, in Greece, in collaboration with Hitch-Hyke Records, which became an instant smash hit throughout Greece. Enriched with a vital surf/garage as well as rocknroll style against a background which draws from musical elements of a traditional Greek style and themes from science fiction, spaghetti and garage, they set a course which leads them to alternate realities where the old world meets with the new one and where tradition blends in nicely with modernism. It is said that while listening to their original pieces (except for Ibeniz Y Pascuals Malaguena and Grant Miltons Rumble which have been adapted and redone), one is caught up in an endless party while reminiscing the 60s. The album was recorded and mixed directly on to a 2-track, ∫ analogue tape recorder, on March 23, 24 and 25, 2002 at Action Studios in Greece.
After their unprecedented success of their first LP, Dogs Killa Cat, they have put together a demo of thirteen songs which they hope to release soon."
