Les frères Santo (né le 24 Oct 1937) et Johnny (né le 30 Avril 1941) FARINA naissent tous les deux à Brooklyn, New York et se mettent à la guitare dès leur jeunesse. Ils rentrent dans l'histoire de la pop musique grace à leur hit 'Sleepwalk' qu'ils écrivent et enregistrent pour Trinitry Records, un label local de Brooklyn.
Après Õtre passée quelque temps localement, elle est reprise par un label plus important, Canadian-American, qui la porte au niveau national. En Aot 1959, la chanson atteind le N∞1 au Bilboard Top 40. Les frères continuent à enregistrer et jouent jusqu'en 1964.
Les frères avaient une soeur Ann FARINA, qui les aidait dans l'écriture de leurs chansons. Ils eurent cinq autres titres classés dans les charts US de 1959 à 1964 dont le plus célèbre fut 'Tear Drop' ainsi que des albums titrés comme 'Santo & Johnny' et 'Encore' en 1960 puis 'Hawai' en 1961.
Mort Garson célèbre pour ses albums 'Moog' , produit plus tard 'Sleepwalk' et le 6ème album des frères.
Certains titres plus récents sont accompagnés (comme Norrie Paramort pour les Shadows) de l'orchestre 'Hutch Davie Orchestra'.
