Situé dans la ville cotière de San Luis Obispo en Californie, THE SENTINALS étaient un mauvais exemple de groupe de surf venant de Caroline du nord. Leur son était caractérisé par une influence latine qui est plus évident sur leur hit "Latin'ia". Le groupe sort 'Sunset Beach' juste après sur Del Fi en janvier 1963.
Le batteur John BARBATA ira jouer plus tard, avec THE TURTLES, JEFFERSON Aiplane / STARSHIP et CROSBY, STILLS AND NASH.
NUNES et HINKEL rejoignent Johnny Rivers.
