Formation créée en 1966, par le bassiste Eldee Young et le batteur Isaac "Red" Holt juste après la rupture du RAMSEY LEWIS TRIO. Le groupe porte aussi bien le nom de YOUNG HOLT UNLIMITED que YOUNG HOLT TRIO. En 1968, Walker est remplacé par Ken Chaney.
